Job Summary We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Scientist/Principal Technician in our Compound Management group based at Chesterford Park, Saffron Walden. You will be working as part of a growing team using a range of state-of-the-art liquid handling automation to provide high quality samples for experimental testing; supporting all projects running within Charles River Early Discovery globally, from Hit Identification through iterative Lead Optimisation campaigns aimed at discovering new medicines for our client's projects. Within Early Discovery at Charles River, we hold our own large screening libraries for delivery of High Throughput Screening campaigns, along with managing and curating proprietary libraries for our Clients, using industry-leading sample management software to deliver a fast, efficient and quality service. You will work in a challenging and dynamic environment that will provide the ideal opportunity to learn new skills in logistics, project planning, advanced robotics and contribute directly to progression of multiple drug-discovery projects. Main Tasks + To ensure accurate processing and delivery of test samples to assay groups across the organisation + To operate, maintain and troubleshoot state-of-the-art liquid handling automation and ensure the continuous and efficient operation of these systems + To ensure communication with multiple internal customer groups to enable accurate planning of project timelines for delivery to our client projects. + To drive the physical maintenance and replenishment of the Charles River compound collection according to the expected the life cycle. + Work and handle samples safely in line with all Health and Safety protocols Candidate Profile + Educated to degre level within a Life Sciences discipline. + Experience of working within compound management or sample management, either from industry or academia is essential + Evidence of a track record in working with automated platforms is desirable + Self motivated with demonstrable problem solving, you will be able to work collaboratively and be able to use your initiative + Desire to continue to learn and develop skillset in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment About Discovery Discovery from Charles River is industry-proven in the successful development of novel therapies, with over 350 patents and 80 preclinical drug candidates delivered to our sponsors in the past 17 years.
