We are looking for a Pack Testing Team Leader to join our Packaging Sciences Team in Wantage, Oxfordshire who will be responsible for leading a small team of scientists supporting materials qualifications, manage information on pack testing and provide insight and provide expertise and advice regarding food filling and processing. The four key areas of responsibility for this role are as follows: Pack Testing including , managing the global pack testing programme, ensuring all products are packed in accordance with standard methodologies and stored securely. You will plan workloads across the team of scientists and technicians so that appropriate openings are carried out, all physical and chemical measurements are made and observations are conducted and accurately recorded. Communicate results of testing clearly and with insight to Crown Technology and business stakeholder via formal reports. Supervise writing and authorise reports of team members and assist project leaders by providing appropriate test pack plans for new materials. In addition to the above, you will provide support and act as deputy to the Specifications Leader. Food Processing including , developing expertise regarding packing and thermal processing of Food and Beverages. Supporting development programs by testing developmental components through representative customer process simulations. HSE , you will be required to set targets and standards for world class laboratory and pilot plant facilities, working with area wardens to deliver a safe and organised, fit-for-purpose working environment. Training and Development including , improving the quality of pack test evaluations by identifying and acting on areas for improved techniques, training and standards and procedures. In order to succeed in this role, you will be educated to degree level in chemistry, food science or a similar subject. Previous experience of leading a small team will be required for this role. You will have knowledge of metal packaging (materials used, manufacturing processes and failure modes), and customer processes. In additional to this, you will have an understanding of methods of materials characterisation and analysis, and statistical analysis methods. In addition to the above you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with previous experience writing reports on a regular basis and liaising with different stakeholders. Knowledge of Crown and Crown's operations and food microbiology, hygiene, food chemistry and corrosion in food and beverages would be desirable for this role although not essential.
