IMPERIAL COLLEGE HEALTH CARE NHS TRUST SURGERY AND CANCER CLINICAL PROGRAM GROUP Substantive Consultant in Palliative Medicine (Full time, less than full time applicants / job shares are encouraged to apply) We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic palliative care consultant to join our palliative care team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This post is substantive and is based predominantly at Charing Cross Hospital alongside two other palliative care consultants. There are many opportunities for service development, quality improvement, education and training which can be guided by the interests of the successful applicant. The palliative care team works directly with clinical teams across all divisions within our Trust. Their workload is varied with an increasing non-malignant caseload currently accounting for 47% of all referrals trust-wide. Patients are seen in every ward and hospital setting, with a wide range of diagnoses. All team members are expected to be knowledgeable, dedicated and capable of delivering the highest quality of care. Excellent communication skills and commitment to education are essential. The successful candidate will be part of a telephone based on-call service providing out of-hours advice to the acute hospital services. Prospective candidates should be within 6 months of obtaining their CCT, or be listed on the GMC Specialist Register for Palliative Medicine.
