Job Description

Cheadle offers a variety of services ranging from PICU services to Rehabilitation services providing a care pathway for all adults suitable to their individual needs. The units provide assessment and treatment for acute mental health conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, Bi-polar Disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and Personality Disorders. The ethos of the units is to provide support in times of crisis and to offer therapeutic engagement during the inpatient stay working alongside appropriate risk management plans. The teams consist of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Speciality Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Mental Health Nurses and experienced Healthcare Assistants who form the Multidisciplinary teams. Their approach is to work closely with stakeholders and commissioning bodies to achieve minimum lengths of stay for patients through effective discharge planning. Adult Acute The Acute service at Cheadle is a 29-bedded service made up of two separate units: Maple and Alder. Both are mixed sex units providing care for adults aged 18 and over. The units operate a 24-hour admission service supporting local NHS trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups, taking both informal and formal patients. PICU - Psychiatric Intensive Care Units The PICU service at Cheadle Royal Hospital is a 30 bedded service made up of 3 separate units: Pankhurst (Female), Willows and Featherstone (both Male). The unit provide care for adults aged 18 and over. Our psychiatric intensive care services are adept at dealing with patients in a severe phase of illness, who cannot be managed on an acute or HDU service. Our staff teams have extensive experience in managing high levels of disturbance, allowing our PICUs to admit from a variety of settings, including from other PICUs. Our teams are committed to providing the highest quality of care. We help support patients with a wide range of mental health conditions in therapeutic and supportive environments. Rehabilitation & Recovery Elmswood Elmswood provides comprehensive rehabilitation services for males with complex mental health needs. We ensure the highest quality of care to enable smooth transitions back home or into community services. Elmswood have 17 beds set over 2 units which provide a pathway to step down into a less restricted environment Preceptors: Are you a newly qualified Mental Health Nurse looking to consolidate your training with an excellent Preceptorship package? You will have a preceptor package with tailored individual and group support both on and off the ward. This would consist of training and professional development from your line managers/mentors on site.
