Job Description
Packaging Technologist Hours per week: 37.5 hrs per week Contract Status: Permanent Reporting to: Head of Quality Background Orean Personal Care has developed an award-winning reputation for quality, service and speed and has been in operation for over 20 years. As a private label cosmetic manufacturing company, we pride ourselves in being able to create, produce, package and distribute high-end product ranges whilst maintaining long lasting relationships with our clients. Based in our factory in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire, we have over 120 people working together to produce top quality products to clients across the UK and beyond. A unique and exciting opportunity to take ownership for packaging on our new product developments from brief to launch. Reporting into the Head of Quality, this role encompasses the sourcing, quotes, specification, feasibility, compatibility, production capability and quality requirements of all packaging to enable NPD to reach the market on time in full. The Orean Vision To provide the most desirable contract manufacturing experience Our values COLLABORATION: To create deep long-lasting relationships for the benefit of all AMBITION: To continue to grow and evolve with resilience and enthusiasm EXPERTISE: To acquire and apply appropriate knowledge, innovation and technology INTEGRITY: To be straightforward, open, honest and fair AGILITY: To respond efficiently and effectively to all requirements and challenges Requirements Key Responsibilities * Work with the commercial team to source and obtain quotes for packaging to meet client briefs. * Obtain specifications and samples for all new components and outers for customer samples, compact testing, line trials, seal samples and pre-production samples. * Work closely with the engineering and production teams to establish feasibility and capability of packaging proposals to feed into commercial quotes, reporting on line trials where required, making recommendations to the business ahead of product launch. * Manage customer expectations around packaging capabilities, specifications, tolerances and limitations, capturing the detail in a silver seal sign off. * Determine, design and carry out the compatibility testing required on a pack by pack basis, review, report and sign off on the packaging for all NPD making risk assessments where applicable in respect of launch timings. * Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers attending relevant product trials / print runs / packaging first productions where required (may involve overseas travel on occasion) * Attend relevant conferences / exhibitions to keep up to date on packaging innovations, sustainability and supply options. * Complete Packaging Waste Obligation reporting. * Any other duties required by the Head of Quality Person Specification Essential Requirements: * Excellent time management and prioritisation skills * Excellent communication skills both with internal departments, customers and external suppliers to enable smooth execution of product launches * A good foundation in Maths, English, Science and IT * A good technical & creative eye, to give initial feedback to suppliers and/or customers, before approval process. * An ability to be flexible and solution led to deliver projects on time in full.
