Overview

Job Description

Description We're a growing consultancy business, with DevOps and cloud infrastructure expertise at our core. We build secure, highly available cloud solutions, supporting a variety of workloads, including media, e-commerce, and pharmceutical data systems. As a member of our team, you'll help solve unique, interesting engineering problems, working with other people who share your interest in building robust, scalable systems. You'll work to build and support AWS infrastructure, working with a variety of customers on continuous delivery pipelines, and on making their platforms more robust and performant. You'll also work with other members of The Scale Factory on enhancing our products and tools, and improving the way we deliver our services. Our Platform Engineering team works on ReadyScale, our platform design for scalable cloud infrastructure, adding features, fixing bugs, and deploying it to our customers. Our Customer Engineering team supports and maintains deployed ReadyScale platforms for our customers. We're hiring for both teams right now. Requirements Attitude, flexibility, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly, are all more important than years of experience, however you'll need production experience with: * AWS * Linux (either CentOS or Ubuntu) * Configuration management (preferably Puppet, but a CM mindset is more important than the specific tool) Experience with the following would also be beneficial, but not required: Jenkins, Terraform, Packer, ELK, Vagrant, Prometheus, Docker, Kubernetes. As dictated by client requirements, we work with a number of different language environments and application frameworks. About you: * You have demonstrable experience of operating Linux in production environments. * You're good at learning new technologies and methods * You believe in automation and in testing * You're familiar with at least one config management ecosystem * You understand the value of monitoring and logging * You're a good communicator (both online, and in person), and you work well with others. * You're willing to take part in our low-volume on-call rota. No recruiters. Benefits We have an office near Borough Market in London, and we're happy for you to work remotely, as long as you're in the UK - though occasional visits to customer sites will be necessary. Whether working at home, in the office, or with customers we collaborate and chat on Slack, Github and Hangouts. We're not hung up on a traditional 9-to-5 schedule, and we encourage colleagues to establish working hours that suits them best. We sponsor a number of DevOps community events each year, and we encourage conference attendance and contributions to Open Source projects. We get together socially throughout the year, and hold regular team days. We're constantly learning from each other, sharing what we think and what we've learnt.
