Job Description

Our client based in Banbury is looking for a Freight Forwarder with experience within Air , Sea or European Road Freight Export for 3 months to cover 1 of 2 first line managers that they will need to release onto a customers project team for a 3 month period. The role would be within their transport team and dependent upon experience you have is to what department you would cover for the 3 month period. Their customer is an American filtration company and the requirement is for all daily orders to be picked, packed and shipped by midnight on the daily of order creation, order runs start at 01:00 hrs with hourly runs between 06:00 to 12:00hrs which will filter through to the transport team as orders are picked, packed and completed for shipment. This team also look after the transport (bulk pallet) requirements for plants shipping out of Holland and Belgium daily, this is a freight forwarding activity as they do not run any of their own vehicles/equipment on this contract it is won by either trade lane or spot bidding by approved carriers and awarded and managed from collected through to delivery. Skills required: - Knowledge of UK and European transport requirements and pricing. - Their client is based in UK but 95% of all movements are for export. - Good with spreadsheets - Good communicator and able to work weekends if required during month end peak periods (this is not a regular requirement just when volumes suddenly spike). - Ability to load plan vehicles - Good with numbers - Responsible for small team of either 4 heads or 6 heads dependent upon area allocated acting in first line manage role. - Join daily customer management call to represent the activity. - Support and direct operations to ensure that all daily work completed. - Ability to prioritise and complete daily workload of the team. - Responsible for any escalations and financial reporting of the dept. - Use of Excel Spreadsheets for the daily logging and reporting of movements The pay scale of the FLM (first line manager) that this person would be covering is £30k
