Job Description

Applications are invited from radiologists who have experience/interest in thoracic and/or cardiac imaging. The successful applicant will have the opportunity for in-house training and work along with our team of seven experienced cardiothoracic radiologists and six cardiologists with imaging interest. Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH) is a successful NHS Foundation Trust, dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiothoracic diseases, with an outstanding group of cardiac and thoracic surgeons, radiologists and chest physicians and cardiologists. Our Trust has its own research department which provides excellent support for those colleagues interested in research and innovation. This post was created to accommodate for the increase in the demand of imaging studies, securing an adequate workload to each of the consultants. Our department provides the best technology for cardiothoracic imaging, with two 1.5 MRI scanners and one 3T MRI scanner. This includes a 3T Siemens Vida MR scanner, wide bore and a 1.5T cardiac optimized Siemens Aera MR scanner. We have 2 CT scanners which are a Siemens Dual-Source Somatom Definition Flash CT scanner and a Siemens Somatom Definition Force CT scanner which are fully integrated with PACS. The post holder will be based at the LHCH and general or thoracic sessions at Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital can be considered. The total sessional commitment would be 10 - 12 PAs for a full time appointee but applicants who wish to work less than full time are also welcome to apply. Applicants must hold a GMC registration and a certificate of completion of specialist training in radiology (CCST), or equivalent international specialist radiology training certificate when applying for this position.
