Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint a bright and enthusiastic clinician to this locum approved for service (LAS) specialist Trainee (ST4 and above) position in General Adult Psychiatry based at The first 6 month post is based at: * North Islington Recovery team, 1, Lowther Road , Islington London N7 8JS & Amber ward Highgate Mental Health Centre Dartmouth Park hill London N19 5NX. The second 6 month post is based at: * * The South Camden Recovery team, Peckwater Centre, Peckwater Street, London. NW5 2TX & Sapphire ward Highgate Mental Health Centre Dartmouth Park hill London N19 5NX This is a locum for service Specialist Trainee post in General Adult Psychiatry (ST4-6). It will consist of two post parts, switching between the posts after 6 months. (Both posts are essentially identical in terms of working partly on a community recovery team and partly on an acute ward.) You will regularly review patients either at home or in clinic and update their management plans. You may sometimes be asked to do follow up visits or review patients who are already known to the team. You will dictate or type letters to GPs after each patient contact or change in management plan to keep them informed. You will facilitate medical students learning by taking them on home visits (with the patient's permission) and discussing the assessment with them. On Sapphire or Amber wards you may have your own small caseload of ward patients under supervision. This will involve running management ward rounds, attending Tribunals and covering the Ward Consultant's leave absences as required. The postholder may be expected to join the after hours Higher trainee full shift duty rota. This rota is 1 in 24 resident and covers Royal Free, UCLH and Whittington Hospitals as well as the mental health beds. There is also support from full shift core trainees and the on call Consultants.The availability of On call responsibilities will be confirmed at interview. The postholder may also be expected to be part of the trust wide day time S12 rota. The post is available immediately until at least February 2021 with the likelihood of extension. The post will be fully supported by administrative cover with the usual office/administration facilities. They will be supported in pursuing appropriate continuing professional development and will be encouraged to attend local academic teaching events although this is NOT a training post. The trust became a Foundation Trust in February 2008 and continues as a mental health/social care organisation. It has well established links with the United Royal Free and University college London medical schools and the North London Junior and higher Psychiatric training schemes. Camden is an exciting multicultural inner-city borough just on the edge of the City of London. There is a contiguous mix of relatively affluent and deprived areas. Applicants are expected to have MRCPsych or equivalent, full GMC registration, current license to practise and to have completed up to CT3 level of core training. Section 12 approval is very essential or a willingness to get this early on in the job role. Interview dates and venue to be confirmed.
