Hermes is the logistics and distribution partner to some of the largest and fastest paced e-commerce and international retailers; to provide a cost-effective, efficient and fast next day service, we operate 2 national Hubs, 26 Depots & 500+ Sub-Depots with a fleet Cat C&E, Cat C, electric and 3.5 tonne vans. Reporting in to our General Manager (Trunking) , you will be a senior member of the Transport department on site. A team of Transport Shift Managers & Supervisors will report in to you as well as indirectly a large Driver pool. Working alongside the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the transport team functions smoothly and the SLA's set with our clients are met. You'll do this by providing leadership to the Transport Supervisors and strategically thinking about the operation and how transport efficiencies can be made and our Driver pool managed. This is a varied and fast-paced role where you will work across multiple projects and working groups to meet the business needs but some of your duties will be to ensure that our trunking schedule meets the needs of our clients and are the most efficient and cost-effective operating schedules for our business. This includes the management of a 7 day pre-agreed/planned client collections service and Depot delivery schedule. Because of the 24/7 nature of our operation, this is NOT a Monday-Friday, 9-5pm position. To support our operation and manage your fleet fully, there will be occasions when you will be on site across the night shift and potentially weekends as needed. But more importantly you must be able to make operational and strategic decisions at pace and have the self-belief to commit to a plan of action. To be successful in this role you must have an in-depth knowledge of transport legislation compliance and the legal compliance for fleet and drivers. Experience/Qualifications: * CPC National Qualification * O-License Desirable * Full current driving licence * Project Management Experience * Extensive knowledge and experience of operational processes and practices, particularly Transport operations * Proven ability to build business knowledge and translate into working practices and procedures * Be able to use internal systems, e.g. Isotrak, TMS and Tachomaster * Strong analytical skills * Experience of leading a high performing team * Motivational Leader, supporting staff to self-develop * Influencing through data Benefits: * Bonus * 26 Days Annual Leave & Bank Holidays * Pension We will contribute 3% into your pension, give you peace of mind through life assurance and also provide income protection cover.
