Job Description

We are looking for a capable and competent Housekeeper to join our home in Otterbourne, Hampshire. This is a key role for someone who is well organised and capable of ensuring the smooth running of the Housekeeping department to a high standard. You will be both hands on cleaning, and supervising a team, so you need to be prepared to roll up your sleeves! Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill supports individuals and couples facing the challenges of living with dementia day-to-day, offering reassurance, support and flexibility. The spacious site near Chandler's Ford in Hampshire offers three interconnected services: * Otterbourne Court: A care home providing personalised nursing and dementia care, as well as planned and emergency respite support. * Otterbourne Mews: Dementia-friendly apartments for couples or individuals living with dementia. * Otterbourne Club: A community hub where residents and local people can enjoy a range of facilities, activities and social opportunities. As our Housekeeper, your key responsibilities will be: * To oversee all duties of the cleaning and laundry staff and ensure that the home is maintained to a very high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and comfort at all times; * To liaise with residents and/or relatives to identify residents wishes in respect of their laundry and the cleaning of their room and personal effects; meeting regularly to ensure that their wishes and needs are being met and responding promptly and positively to complaints and opportunities to improve the service; * To clean the residents rooms and en-suites with due regard to residents' rights to privacy, dignity and choice to a high standard and in accordance with the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules; * To carry out Risk Assessments, ensuring that any risks associated with the teams' work are managed and communicated to the team; * To ensure that COSHH regulations are maintained and that COSHH information sheets are provided and kept updated for all substances used by the domestic team; * To develop and maintain a staff roster that meets service requirements. You, as our ideal candidate, must have previous Housekeeping experience, and experience of supervising a small team and have a basic understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH legislation. You will have a natural affinity with older people, and understand the need to be empathetic. In addition, you will be able to prioritise your workload and possess strong communication skills. This role is for 36 hours per week, including weekends to be worked on a rota basis. In return we offer an hourly rate of £9.55 and 6.2 weeks holiday including Bank Holidays increasing to 6.6 weeks with five years service.
