Job Description
JOB PROFILE * Operating Ambulance shifts to convey patients in accordance to the operational procedures and directives of the Trust in which you are operating on behalf and in accordance to the training levels you have received. * To work as part of a double crewed ambulance to convey patients in and out of hospitals, clinics, Health department and wards in a safe and comfortable manner. * To utilise the skills you have been taught to carry out the response, treatment and conveyance of patients to ensure maximum patient comfort and minimal transportation times * To respond to the patient transport requests and obey the directions and instructions as detailed by the relevant Trust you are operating on behalf of. KEY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES * To respond to the dispatching information of the control in the appropriate manner as detailed by control. * To offer the relevant treatment to any patient in accordance to your medical training. * To accurately record any treatment given or offered to any patients by means of Patient Record Forms or Patient Care Records. * To convey patients in and out of hospitals, clinics, health departments and wards, in a safe and comfortable manner, ensuring that you continue any treatment necessary on route and record that treatment accurately. * Organising your patient journeys in a logical and realistic order to ensure that you reach the destination in the quickest manner. * To maintain effective communications with control at all times. * Build good working relationships with Trust staff at all levels. * Maintain vehicle cleanliness and roadworthiness at all times. * To ensure that you are up to date with any new Clinical instructions issued by the relevant Trust you are operating on behalf of. * Ensure any issues of non-conveyance are carried out in accordance to the Trusts directives. * Ensure all log sheets are completed correctly and accurately. * Dealing with all patient requests in a sensitive manner. * Ensure patients are conveyed in accordance to Trust quality and time restraints. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE * Previously trained staff must have successfully passed the IHCD FPOSI course and must complete the additional training as required by the Company to achieve the standard of ECA. These include, but are not limited to:12 lead ECG Placement, Preparation of Fluid, Advanced Paramedic Assist. * Prospective candidates must pass all training given by the Company that will enable them to achieve the required standard for an ECA. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL Ability to work to tight deadline Good team player Able to work on own initiative Experience with dealing the public (preferably in an NHS environment) The ability to undertake detailed classroom work to effective and accurate practical abilities DESIRABLE Experience in dealing with patients Bi/multi lingual
