Mawdsleys are a UK based pharmaceutical 3PL provider and wholesaler to the healthcare sector and pharmaceutical industry. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operations Manager to join the team on a full time, permanent basis. The position will be based in our Redhouse site in Doncaster, and ideally your home will be within a commutable distance of the Yorkshire region. You will be responsible for maintaining continual and effective control of the Transport Operation in our Doncaster site and facilitating the changes to realise our growth ambitions. Reporting to the Head of Transport and directly managing the drivers, planners and transport admin teams, you will be the key decision maker on all on site transport issues and provide advice and guidance on all aspects of the transport activity and opportunities, promoting "best practice" in both an operational and commercial capacity. Duties * Full compliance to the legislative undertakings of our Operators Licence * Ensure a Safe and Secure working environment in line with policy and legislation * Development and delivery of Transport KPI's to ensure needs of the wider business are satisfied and demonstrating integrity of information throughout * Development and delivery of financial budgets to assist in the delivery of a broader business target * Management and development of the Planning Supervisors and their team * Actively manage staff relations to help progress a culture of change and ensuring continuous development in line with the needs of the business * Work closely with Supply Chain team and other DCs to formulate and deliver the overall strategy * Engage with external service providers and maintain strong working relationships * Full ownership of vehicles and trailers including the rental of vehicles * Production of detailed and timely reports on all aspects of the operation * As an individual you will constantly be looking at ways of driving best practice with a key focus on continuous improvement and alignment with business strategy. Person Specification * A qualification of Certificate of Professional Competence in National & International Road Haulage (essential) * Excellent people management skills (essential) * Excellent knowledge of transport operations in a high volume multi-drop parcel and pallet network delivery and collection environment * Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or other highly regulated environment - (Desirable, although the right candidate would be able to adjust quickly) * Knowledge of healthcare / Pharma Logistics (desirable) * A desire to exceed both our client and internal customers' expectations on service and delivery * A flexible and methodical approach to work/training/working hours * A conscientious and reliable attitude * The ability to effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines
