Job purpose: To secure and manage income from grant making donors, primarily government & institutional donors but also foundations and trusts. Hours: Up to 37.5 hrs/week - full or part-time by negotiation Location: Due to Covid-19 MapAction's team is currently home working and this post would need to be too. In the future there would be an expectation for e.g. fortnightly travel to meetings, possibly at MapAction's office, currently Chinnor, Oxfordshire. Reports to: Fundraising and Marketing Director About MapAction - MapAction is a charity existing to provide mapping, geospatial and information management services to humanitarian emergencies. A leader in its field, MapAction uses an inspirational team of highly skilled volunteers backed up by a specialised staff team to provide support and training services worldwide. The overall aim is to save lives and minimise suffering by ensuring that humanitarian aid is delivered as effectively and efficiently as possible, getting to where it is needed most, fast. MapAction has a strong reputation for excellent service delivery and a collaborative approach. It is a technical partner of several United Nations and regional disaster management agencies, with ongoing funding from several humanitarian donor governments, trusts & foundations. We pull together to do what is needed. Who you are - You are a respected and experienced fundraising professional. You are calm under pressure and share the pervasive MapAction 'can-do' attitude, rooted in our volunteer values and held very dearly. What will you do? - You will be responsible for managing the effective delivery of MapAction's largest income stream. Most of our 1m+ income comes from several government donors. Those donor relationships require a regular cycle of proposals, negotiations, project reporting and financial claims. You will sit at the heart of our 5 (FTE 3.8) person Fundraising & Marketing Team, committed to supporting MapAction's new multi-year strategy by delivering sustainable resources for our service delivery. You will ensure that this all happens efficiently and effectively using your strong organisational and communications skills. You will be happy using your numeracy skills and comfortable creating and working with spreadsheets. You will enjoy working closely with colleagues in the Operations, Technical and Finance teams to ensure that donors receive the information they require on time, in helpful formats. There is also an income generation aspect to the role, always being on the lookout for new proposal opportunities to ensure resilience and growth in MapAction's income and working with colleagues to convert them into new income. The role has the support and day to day task direction for the Grants Fundraising Assistant. Main Responsibilities Donor cultivation and relationship management We have very good relations with our funders and the post holder will continue to foster those good relations by managing excellent and timely communications, reporting and development/submission of new bids. * Managing a portfolio of prospective and existing grants from government and trust/foundation donors. This may occasionally require travel. * Organising Donor Briefing sessions on MapAction's work and related Humanitarian Response. * Producing accurate, nuanced, persuasive and timely communications, including detailed proposals, reports and claims. * Monitoring key deadlines and notifying relevant colleagues of the requirements of each. * Coordinating meetings and other progress monitoring and reporting systems for grants. * Working with colleagues across the office at all levels to ensure good contract management, and that all necessary grants systems and processes are maintained to deliver an efficient service. Planning and budgeting * Develop, manage and deliver institutional income plans and budgets to support delivery of the fundraising and financial strategic goals. * Ensuring contractual and reporting requirements, for a range of donors, are met in a timely and efficient manner. * Working closely with the Grants Finance Officer and where appropriate Finance Director and other colleagues, to develop and use appropriate tracking code systems for each grant in order to ensure contractual and reporting obligations are met. Broader fundraising, marketing, communications and organisational activities * Supporting the Fundraising & Marketing Director in providing information for supporter communications and organising cultivation events if/when required. * Contributing to other reasonable activities in the Fundraising & Marketing Team and broader MapAction Team as requested. Taking part in organisation wide activities as requested. (Ideally attending at least parts of MapAction's UK based team training events).
