Laboratory Technician

Job SummaryAvantor Services currently have an opening for a Laboratory Technician to join our team and work closely providing specialist support to AstraZeneca's QA laboratories on the Macclesfield site.This role is multi-disciplinary and underpins the laboratory support operations. The Laboratory Technician role is lab-based and focussed on delivery of scientific technical support. You will be trained in the techniques specific to the department and be responsible for a range of general laboratory duties including: preparation of stock solutions and reagents, consumables and stock management, equipment performance checks, archiving, general laboratory housekeeping. Key Tasks + To carry out all scientific support activities in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines, GMP & local agreements + Proactively deliver the operational laboratory support managing workload inline with area SLA's + Act as a contact for key customers, actively engaging with them on a regular basis to understand their business requirements + Proactively identify and support operational efficiencies by implementing process improvements + Data entry and analysis using packages including Excel if required + Liaise with key purchasing contacts to enable more cost-effective expenditure + Glass washing and housekeeping activities + Preparation of buffers/solutions/eluents + Archiving of GMP documents + Maintenance of Point of Use (PoU's) Kanban stores by daily replenishment of stock - lab consumables and solvents + Management of microbiology plates and dealing with deliveries + Capture metrics on tasks as required in order to contribute to delivery of service KPIs + Ensuring compliance of activities performed in adherence with defined schedules and quality within a specified area. Act and report on deviations + Ensure training activities are completed and records/documentation are up to date + Work collaboratively with the QAB Lab Support team in order to ensure all daily tasks are covered Skills, knowledge & competencies + Working knowledge of the laboratory environment including Health and Safety requirements + Ability to manage customer's expectations and provide a professional level of customer service + Excellent communicator at all levels and enjoys working as part of a team + Proficient in data capture, analysis and reporting utilising various IT systems + Willingness to work overtime if required to help deliver the service during periods of holiday/sickness + The role requires an ability to perform the daily manual handling activities required for stock management + Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest and attention to detail are key for this role Offer This opportunity not only offers the chance to work in a dynamic growing team but also in a company that is looking to expand in an exciting area of science.
