In addition to gaining valuable working experience you'll have the opportunity to study towards professional qualifications dependent on your chosen department whilst earning a competitive salary. This apprenticeship programme commences annually in September at the Macclesfield site and we are offering Laboratory Scientist Apprenticeships within the microbiology area: Pharmaceutical Technology and Development - You'll be working with scientists from multiple disciplines to deliver the microbiological understanding to ensure patient safety and progress the development of our new medicines. You'll receive an Apprenticeship Training Plan that describes the training you need to meet the standard. It may include a mixture of external and internal training that will ensure that you are fully proficient by the end of the programme. It will show when each area of the standard must be acquired and assessed and which areas may require off the job. You'll gain transferable core skills and knowledge. In addition, you'll gain skills specific to the working practices of their place of employment. These requirements are designed to offer stretch and progression. Further training as required will be confirmed at the start of the training plan. Training to be part of the contracted hours making up the working week. You'll be initially working towards a Level 5 Foundation Degree in Technician Scientist with Kent University as well as the potential to extend for a further two years and gain an honour's degree. Additionally, you'll be recognised by the relevant professional bodies at Registered Scientist (RSci) level, for which there is a requirement that the scientist will participate in subsequent continuing professional development on completion of the apprenticeship. Essential skills/capabilities required: + Good communication skills + Good team working skills + High organisation skills and confidence to work independently + Logical thinking to be able to apply processes + The ability to apply a rational approach to problem solving; making judgments based on sound reasoning, approaching problems in a logical manner + Concerns for standards + High numeracy and literacy skills + Computer literacy + The ability to learn + Self-motivation + Initiative Entry Requirements: + Five GCSEs (or equivalent) grades 9-4 including Maths, English and Science. + 2 A Levels (or equivalent) at grade C or above (1 of which needs to be Biology).
