The Role The Trust are looking for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join them at Thomas Deacon Academy Juniors. This role is a fixed term contract for 1 year initially and linked to the child with the Education Health Care Plan. The successful candidate will support a pupil with a hearing impairment so that they can access the curriculum, participate in learning, experience a sense of achievement, and develop independence in learning and other aspects of school life. This will include clarifying and explaining instructions through the modification of language, the use of sign (BSL, SSE) and the use of visuals or other resources. The successful candidate must hold a Level 2 Qualification in British Sign Language. The Person You will: * Hold a Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language. * Have a good understanding of the needs of pupils with a hearing impairment. * Have high expectations for the behaviour and academic progress of young people. * Establish good working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model. * Be ambitious and have the energy and creativity to make a significant contribution to the academy.
