This role is to carry out general R&D IT tasks in support of RTT Engineering and Operations as part of the RTT engineering team, including producing technical documentation, network configuration, system fault finding, setting up and configuring Server Hardware and Software from scratch. The key responsibilities of this role are: + Produce and review technical documentation + Knowledge of networking systems with Cat 5/6, fibre optics, switches, etc. + Configuring switches, firewalls etc. + Producing engineering documentation including work instructions, test reports, IT equipment configuration & specifications for client and R&D projects. + Building Linux and Windows servers from bare metal. + Installation and support of bespoke software on Windows and Linux systems. + Some UK and foreign travel to customer sites for setting up systems. + Uphold the company's core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork + Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the company's Code of Ethics and Conduct + It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem + Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business. Candidate Specification + Graduate level Degree in IT/Computing + Minimum of 1 years' experience in the essential skills, but strong understanding of Networking Basics and huge interest on that would be considered. + Good technical communication skills in English. + Attention to detail is an important skill. Essential skills: + Quick learner and interested in IT/Technologies, keen to learn + Graduate level Degree in IT/Computing + Networking hardware, Cat5/6, fibre optics, switches. + Networking protocols, IP addressing, routing. + Server Hardware and Operating system from bare metal. + Some Linux and Windows administration experience. Desirable skills & knowledge: + TCP/IP networking model. + Switch configuration + Some Linux and Windows administration experience. + Further networking: LACP, NTP Iptables/firewall, SSH, NAT + Scripting (Bash, Sh, Python) + Experience of virtual machines on VMware or Hypervisor.
