The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical nursing care to patients with medical/surgical conditions in any of the inpatient units of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Recruitment is limited ONLY to the local coummuting area of Lakenheath * This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program * Disclosure of Political Appointments * At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the 0610 occupational series must be met * Must maintain a valid, unrestricted, and current registered nurse license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) in a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia * Position has been identified as having "regular contact with children " requiring a criminal history background check to be completed on any person selected for the position IAW DOD guidance * This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use * Must possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certificate * May be required to 12 hour work shifts (including nights and weekends) or augment clinical nursing support during the absence of other team nurses due to illness, leave, or deployment * Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs * Requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking; travels to/from other departments within the MTF to facilitate meeting patient care requirements * Frequent stretching, bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting of clinic equipment and supplies, and/or positioning of patients occurs daily * Assists with placement of medical equipment, furniture, etc. as needed (i.e., under 50 pounds). Physical exertion requires above average agility and dexterity ### Qualifications OPM Qualification Standards: Nursing Series, 0610 BASIC REQUIREMENT: Applicants must have a graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained AND must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing work that includes adhering to established concepts, principles, and practices; providing nursing care in general medical and surgical wards, out-patient departments, gynecology, obstetrics, or intensive care units for cardiac, pediatric, post-operative, or respiratory patients, to include medical disorders such as oncology, neurology, cardiovascular, thoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopedic, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, urology, neurosurgical, gynecological surgery complications and indicated therapeutic intervention; setting up and operating a variety of specialized medical equipment such as resuscitators, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, fetal heart tone monitors, uterine contraction monitors, and ventilators; administering medications orally, intramuscularly, subcutaneously, intravenously, and/or topically; recognizing adverse signs and symptoms and quickly reacting/administering care IAW MTF policies ANDpossess a diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nurs
