We have many open positions; please take a look at The opportunity: We have a new opportunity for an Investment Analyst - Research Specialist within our Investment Research Team based in our London office. The Investment Research Team provides advice that impacts the investment choices of a range of UK pensions schemes and their sponsors, covering primarily defined benefits (DB) but also some defined contribution (DC) schemes. This is an opportunity to join a specialist team that sits within a wider multi-disciplinary team that provides clients with leading investment and fiduciary solutions. We are looking for individuals with in-depth experience of the subject matter, strong communication skills, investment acumen and a client focus, alongside the core technical skills. The Investment Analyst - Research Specialist will be responsible for formulating informed views on a range of investment strategies and making insightful rating proposals to the Buck Investment Committee. An enquiring mind and attention to detail are required, as well as discipline, focus and consistency. As the lead analyst within your asset classes, you will bring specialist knowledge of the sector in formulating ratings and assisting our consultants in taking these ideas to our clients. It is likely that you will have at least 4 years' experience in researching LDI, property, ESG or alternative investments. Key responsibilities: + Researching investment strategies within the agreed asset classes in a manner consistent with the Buck research process, and proposing these ratings to the Investment Committee; + As an Investment Committee member, assessing strategies brought for rating by your peers + Lead relationships with a number of external fund managers; + Maintaining and Refining Buck's understanding of the asset classes and how investment into it can enable clients to achieve better outcomes; + Owning the production of Manager Selection reports for clients, engaging as required by the lead consultant during the selection process; + Take personal responsibility for the timeliness and quality of the work performed and for the ratings assigned at the Investment Committee. + It will be of added advantage that you also have an appreciation of ESG investing. + An ability to develop quantitative screens and performance models would be an added advantage. What we look for: + Established record in Investment Research, quite possibly achieved within an Investment Consultancy or Asset Management; + A minimum of 3 to 5 years relevant Investment research experience; + Proven experience of one of the following areas; Liability Driven Investment (LDI), ESG Strategies, Property or Alternative Investments; + AIMR or CFA qualified; + Detailed knowledge of Defined Benefits (DB) pension schemes, and ideally Fiduciary and Defined contribution (DC) schemes; + Strong understanding of Investment products - the investment managers, how and by whom the funds are managed, the merits of different investment processes, an ability to interpret outcomes; + Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and comfortable advising Trustee Boards and fielding one's research conclusions to peers and wider audience within Buck.
