BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION Principal designer with 2D and 3D skills to work as part of a multi-discipline team ESSENTIAL SKILLS As part of the electrical engineering team you will be involved in the design of electrical systems for the oil and gas and / or power including renewable energies industries. This may be a conceptual study or front end engineering design (FEED) or a design execution involving, the procurement of all equipment and detailed drawings for the construction and commissioning of an entire facility. * A minimum of an HNC in Electrical Engineering with relevant industry experience. * Qualification to become EngTech or IEng qualified by the IET. * Ideally the successful candidate will have gained experience in an oil and gas industry however, candidates from a manufacturing and/ or maintenance and design modifications background will be considered. * Able to communicate effectively and multi-task. * Must have experience with 2D drafting of schematics and electrical layouts drawings. * Experience of 3D CAD modelling is required (E3D or S3D). * Experience of working at site would also be an advantage. * Experience of cable scheduling and use of cable routing programs (KBR Cards ). * Knowledge of lighting design / lighting design software. * Familiar with the requirements for selecting equipment for use in hazardous areas. The core responsibilities and duties are as follows: * Involved in projects from concept to detailed design through to construction, testing and handover. * Working in a multi-disciplinary project team, which is likely to include engineers and designers from other specialism's including piping, mechanical, structural, civil and instrumentation. * Interfaces with other designers in other disciplines. * Liaising with clients and other third party contractors. * Taking an active role in the design of electrical distribution system and input into layout discussions, drafting, designing and sizing equipment. * Select and apply the relevant codes and standards applicable to the electrical systems design and hazardous areas. * Heat Tracing design. * Lighting design and lighting / power equipment layout in 2D and 3D. * Reporting from the 3D model. * Use of Drawing extraction tools from 3D model. * Production of MTOs. * Weight report and CoG for offshore projects.
