Job Description

You will be expected to work closely with our R&D, Technical and Engineering teams and lead Procurement Activities within New Product Introduction in the tendering, cost negotiation, supplier selection and contract administration, whilst supporting the scope definition and execution of critical projects. Purpose: *Be the Procurement & Logistics representative in multifunctional teams involved in New Product Intro and be able to lead a team when required. *To undertake projects with the aim of improving management information / supplier relationships / working practices / stock management throughout the whole supply chain. *To support the implementation of the overall business plan by acting as the Procurement team member responsible for ensuring the achievement of key KPIs in Supply Chain QCD areas. *To assist and guide other team members in Supplier Management, negotiations & achievement of KPIs where required including Supplier Performance improvement activities. *To have overall supplier management responsibility of the inward supply of a portfolio of production commodities and non-production goods and services. *To prepare for and negotiate contracts for a portfolio of production commodities and non-production goods and services at the most commercially competitive terms available with due regard to specification, policy and brand/business plans. Job Content: *To review and implement Global Procurement Policies, embedding best practice within the Supply base. *Participate in compilation of vendor rating data and lead subsequent supplier meetings for Performance Improvement. *Research and identify purchasing collaboration opportunities with associate companies and lead team in producing Source Plan. *Manage individual NPI projects through development, production readiness & field testing to launch, supporting other Buyers in their respective categories to ensure a consistent and standardised approach. *Devise strategies for particular area's of spend, which are consistent with the overall Purchasing strategy and designed to support the implementation of brand/business plans. *Negotiate and agree Ts & Cs with suppliers consistent with the needs of the business *Prepare budgets by forecasting future prices based on analysis of market information and agree with Purchasing Manager. *Report price performance and other relevant quality/market issues to interested departments and advise the company Directors via the Purchasing Report. * Quality - Lead and audit TS implementations in close co-ordination with Quality teams. * Cost - Monitor price performance versus budget and actuals, implement cost reduction activities whilst balancing stock holding efficiencies. * Delivery - Interpret production plans and forecasts to support business manufacturing requirements, achieve 100% delivery On Time In Full (OTIF), and as a member of the Logistics team review and recommend developments to ensure MacDermid customer service levels are maintained at 95%+. *Risk Management - Research and identify alternative supply sources for existing or new goods and services to ensure continuity of supply and improve brand profitability, team working as necessary. *Conduct visits to suppliers in order to appraise production & quality capabilities and to determine commercial viability. *Lead continuous improvement projects such as those resulting from programmes within Supply Agreements. *Undertake analyses of any supply chain issues using Business Intelligence tools *Develop tools / reports to enhance the understanding and management of MacDermid supply chains. Success Factors: *Achieve business expert status on the various markets within given portfolio. *Achieve best possible terms, at least within budget. Clearly demonstrate this by benchmarking. *Produce Source Plans for key spends in portfolio that demonstrate business/brand objectives have been taken into account and that there is a business consensus on strategy. *Demonstrate cost reduction and lead-time improvement options have been explored and implemented for key commodities. *Ensure any new suppliers have a clear plan to introduce their services without disruption. *Ensure consideration has been given to Risk Management in NPI projects & during mass production with demonstratable plans available should preferred suppliers have difficulties. *Improve the average Vendor rating of suppliers in portfolio every year. *When leading bring in NPI projects on time and on budget. Job Knowledge: Essential; *Minimum of 3 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably managing a spend in excess of 3m per annum *Demonstratable experience of modern purchasing techniques *Materials Procurement experience
