Laboratory Assistant - Forensic Toxicology

Job Description
Dynacare is currently searching for a Laboratory Assistant to join our Forensic Toxicology Department in London, Ontario. This is a 6 months contract position, working 25 hours per week, with various shifts. Responsibilities: + Ensures that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing. + Follows established protocol for the handling of unsuitable samples. + Operates complex instruments following department procedures. + Performs simple non-interpretive testing procedures under the supervision of a qualified technologist. + Ensures all inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner. + Performs routine equipment maintenance following documented procedures. + Documents all maintenance performed, including minor troubleshooting following manufacturer's instructions. + Ensures all quality control checks and standards are maintained + Other duties as assigned Must have: + Secondary School Graduation Diploma + Graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or equivalent + Excellent computer skills + Ability to identify and prioritize problems; find corrective actions + Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. + Good organizational skills + Ability to work independently + Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment. + Ability to work various shifts including weekends or afternoons Nice to have: + Knowledge of AS400 system/LIS DNA of an Ideal Dynacare Employee I make a difference in people's lives.
