Job Description

Position Purpose & Summary To train in the safe and effective operation of the Utilities plant through distributed control system and locally, to problem solve when required. Utilities plant to incorporate gas turbines, waste heat boilers, cooling towers, condensate, compressed air, water, gas, effluent and steam systems. You will study for the level 3 apprenticeship standard: 'Utilities Engineering Technician' provided by SETA. Principal Accountabilities * Logging, monitoring and reporting of CHP and Utility plant operation * Operating and first line maintenance of the Utility plant and system * Regular safety checks-daily, weekly and monthly * Maintaining and developing key performance indicators * Conducting in-process analysis, including boilers and cooling towers * Participation in projects and community activities * Studying towards Level 3 Utilities Engineering Technician apprenticeship standard including: * Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering * BTEC level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing Technology * NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Technical Support Minimum Required Qualifications * Minimum of 5 GCSEs, grade 4/ C or above or equivalent, including Maths, English and Dual Science or single sciences (including Physics) Preferred Qualifications * AS level Maths or Physics or equivalent * A level or equivalent (BTEC/HNC) in science/engineering Minimum Qualifications * An ability to demonstrate a genuine desire to work in an engineering/manufacturing environment * Inquisitiveness and a strong desire to learn * Strong problem solving ability * Team work and clear communication which are integral parts of successfully working in a team * Fully conversant in Microsoft office to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint. * Proven analytical and fault finding techniques. Experience * Experience within manufacturing operation or utility systems a benefit though not essential as full training will be provided.
