Job Description

CGL volunteer mentors provide 1-2-1 practical support and guidance to individuals identified as having substance misuse issues. Volunteers will encourage individuals to feel more confident and empowered - supporting them to take responsibility for some of the challenges they are facing in overcoming their substance misuse. A volunteer is matched with a mentee and each relationship will have its own defined action plan to encourage motivation and develop confidence, whilst supporting the mentee to work towards achieving small goals and make more positive choices for the future. Mentoring meetings take place in the community on a weekly basis, at an agreed location between mentor and mentee. Our volunteers are given an opportunity to build on skills to support their learning, give back to their community and gain an understanding of the barriers and stigma associated with substance misuse. Change, Grow, Live offer all our volunteers training, ongoing support and supervision from a designated Volunteer Co-ordinator, volunteers will also work indirectly with other professionals across the service. 1/4/2020 This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.
