GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Reporting into the Head of Insurance Reserving, this position will provide actuarial support as part of the Insurance Segment Reserving team. Responsibilities include assisting with the quarterly reserving process and providing business partnering support and analysis for key Segment stakeholders. The role will also liaise closely with various Segment and Corporate functions, including Claims, Finance, Pricing, Underwriting, Capital, Reinsurance, Risk Modelling, and Group Actuarial. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Reserving * Run quarterly reserving process for one of the three Insurance Divisions, including: * Setting of key actuarial assumptions and methods * Review and remediation of quarterly reserving data as required * Projection and review of classes * Leading quarterly Divisional meetings, including Claims meeting and Results meeting with Management * Presenting of results to underwriters * Production of packs and Management Information, including diagnostics on quarterly focus areas * Managing key stakeholder relationships Other * Business Partnering with contacts in Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, and Finance providing analysis and support to improve underwriting results. * Perform additional project work including deep dives of Insurance Segment classes. * Assist in the annual Planning exercise, liaising closely with Pricing, Underwriting, and Risk Functions. * Provide support for other Group Functions (Group Actuarial, Finance, Risk, Regulatory, Capital, Reinsurance, Risk Modelling, and Investments) as required. * Ad hoc database maintenance and model development/improvement. REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: A person in this position should meet the following requirements: * Bachelor's Degree in Math, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Business, Risk Management or a similar field. * At least three years of industry experience with an insurance, reinsurance, or consulting background in reserving, pricing, or modeling roles. * Nearly qualified or qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (or equivalent). OTHER DESIRED SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS: * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Excellent organisational skills and a strong attention to detail. * Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently using own initiative. * Strong Microsoft Office capabilities (particularly Excel, Word, and Powerpoint), with experience of SQL Server and VBA an advantage. * Experience with management information systems is a plus (e.g. database and application development). * Ability to work occasional extended hours and travel on business as required.
