Job Description
We have a phenomenal opportunity for an expert pricing analyst to join our Motor Technical Pricing team in Bromley on a full time permanent basis! Who you'll be working with: Motor Technical Pricing are a team of analytical experts who apply their skills and knowledge to the Direct Line Group business, uncovering insights and aiding decision making in this very daring market. We use a combination of established analytical and statistical techniques and are developing our capability in cutting edge methodologies from the data science world to quickly identify adverse trends. Whilst working under the banner of Pricing & Underwriting, our team works closely with people from a wide variety of departments across the business. The diversity and variety of our work and its challenges are limitless. We aim to improve the business by communicating and acting on the insights that we deliver. What you'll be doing: * Improve ultimate estimates of claim frequency, severity and burn cost for key perils * Develop estimates for claims inflation using analysis and judgement to separate mix, trend and random effects * Calibrate segment models to overall estimates * Model impact of changes in regulation, market and Direct Line processes on claims costs and implementation of these changes into claims models * Develop controls to monitor performance of models. * Identify models that are not performing as expected and correct them where appropriate * Identify new available sources of data and transform existing data to check understanding and ensure robustness of output. What we are looking for: * You will have significant experience in a similar pricing or data science role. * Previous experience of the personal lines insurance market is desirable. Knowledge and experience of Reserving is desirable. * Able to understand issues and generate solutions * Deliver tasks and projects on time and to high quality providing insights, impacts and recommendations. * Exceptional partner management and influencing skills at all levels of management * The ability to communicate your ideas to people from a variety of backgrounds What we'll give you We have a strong focus on developing you and your skillset and work hard to give you the tools to do so.
