Hanneke Smits is the CEO of Newton Investment Management, a role which she assumed in August 2016. Hanneke previously served as a member of the Executive Committee at private equity firm Adams Street Partners from 2001 to 2014, and was its Chief Investment Officer from 2008 to 2014. She is a Non-Executive Director to the Court of the Bank of England, and Chair of Impetus, a venture philanthropy organisation that backs charities that aim to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people. She is also a member of The Investment Association's board, the trade body that represents UK investment managers. The role We have a superb opportunity for a seasoned HR professional to join us to lead the people agenda for Newton Investments. The role reports to the Senior Director of HR, Investment Management, working alongside our HR Advisory (HRA) team and Centres of Excellence (COEs) to lead on day-to-day HR activities. Your partners will be a CEO and Executive Committee who truly value the contribution of HR, and whose ambition is to lead an exceptional employee experience. You will be intellectually curious, hands-on with a positive attitude, flexible and pragmatic. Your peers will regard you as commercial, and you will possess a successful track-record of accomplishment as a HR Generalist preferably within an asset management or private equity background. Strong UK employment law knowledge is important, preferably with some exposure to US labour law. You will be highly numerate, comfortable with data and complex compensation matters including long term incentive plans. You will have worked in a matrixed international environment and understand how to be effective globally. Trust will be important to you, not only in terms of being a trusted partner but also in terms of working alongside colleagues who drive accountability and deliver on what is required. Key Responsibilities Provide senior HR oversight for Newton Investments - coaching, advice and support to the CEO and senior leaders Establish key people metrics to be able to report on trends, issues and areas of improvement Partner with our Recruiting team in bringing in high caliber talent Support the business in achieving their strategic and operating plans, driving HR related actions to achieve results and organizational change. This includes advising on organizational design to ensure that the business is structured for success Accompany the business in driving high performance including influencing leaders to hold managers accountable for effectively leading their teams Identify opportunities for innovation, synergies and/or sharing of best practices across the IM and wider International HR team Manage people related regulatory requirements on an ongoing basis e.g. Senior Managers & Certification Regime Manage risk in relation to employee relations matters working alongside our Legal and Employee Relations colleagues Deliver specific HR programs consistently across the business e.g. performance management, talent management, diversity and inclusion initiatives Ensure that HR policies and practices are consistently com
