AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP ,
Saffron Walden, Essex

Overview

Job Description

We lead our industry in our development of a strong and varied pipeline. This means our people are here to win, we give you a breadth of opportunities to be curious and do cutting edge, unique work that has big impact on science and medicine. We currently have opportunities in Modelling & Simulation part of the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) department, within Research & Early Development of AstraZeneca's Oncology R&D business unit. We are based in Cambridge UK, and Boston US, and are looking for talented, experienced scientists to join our team. Opportunities are available for individuals at a senior level, who have significant experience within the industry and also individuals who are looking to further develop within this field. Oncology is one of three core therapeutic areas AstraZeneca, and Oncology R&D has one of the strongest pipelines in the industry, delivering innovative, life changing medicines. The Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group is embedded within Oncology Research & Early Development and is focussed on delivering a quantitative and mechanistic understanding of PK/PD/efficacy relationships to drug discovery and development teams. We are accountable for all nonclinical aspects of DMPK and modelling & simulation from Lead Identification through to Launch and Life Cycle Management. What you can expect: As a member of the DMPK department ,you will join a group of dynamic and innovative scientists delivering data and modelling, that underpin strategies that characterise the DMPK & PKPD attributes and predict human outcomes for all our small molecule drug projects. We operate in a diverse range of projects with different drug modalities and a breadth of target space including immune-oncology, DNA damage response and tumour drivers and resistance. During drug discovery, DMPK scientists work closely with chemistry and biology teams driving high profile activities that build a quantitative understanding of the mode of action of new agents, define acceptable compound PK properties, and evolve optimal dose / schedule strategies to deliver differentiated efficacy. After the compound enters the clinic, we continue to play a vital role, working with biology and clinical teams to respond to early clinical data through further pre-clinical studies that refine our understanding, and provide prioritised dose schedule options to enhance therapeutic margin, as well as predict outcomes for new patient populations and combination studies. If you have a passion for drug discovery and driving DMPK / PKPD science, and would like the opportunity to contribute existing experience, or develop skills in DMPK science and modelling & simulation as applied to cancer therapeutics then we would like to hear from you. We are looking for skills across modelling & simulation, DMPK project representatives, in vitro scientists, biotransformation. What you will need, essential requirements: + PhD or equivalent experience in scientific discipline, pharmacology or pharmaceutical sciences + PKPD modelling/drug efficacy experience + Knowledge or experience of drug discovery and development processes Desirable requirements: + Knowledge or experience within oncology Location: Chesterford Research Park, UK or Boston, US Salary: Competitive + Excellent Benefits Closing Date: 10th January 2020 Next steps, please apply today!
