United Kingdom - Midlothian, Edinburgh Job Summary Are you an ambitious senior level Structural Engineer with strong experience in the design and construction of Water related structures? The AECOM Water engineering team are looking to appoint a new Associate Structural and Civil Engineer into our centrally based Edinburgh Tanfield office. The Team Our Water team has delivered some of the most high-profile projects in Scotland and internationally, so projects and clients will be varied and interesting. Examples of our current projects and clients: + The team is primarily working on Water Industry structures, principally new Pumping Station supply schemes for Scottish Water, involving storage tanks, chambers, large pumping station substructures and superstructures. + Our ongoing project portfolio includes structural aspects for Dams and Reservoirs, involving spillways, access bridges and valve tower remediation throughout Scotland, together with river flood protection schemes, weir and fish pass structures. + Recent prestigious projects include significant structural engineering design as part of the award winning Deephams WWTW project in London. The Role As a senior level Structural Engineer you will have proven experience in the Water Industry and shall possess and demonstrate a high level of structural engineering design and assessment capability, backed up by sound technical knowledge and at least 15 years technical experience since becoming chartered in Structural engineering. As an AECOM Associate you will be directly involved in and responsible for development and delivery of projects, including design, inspection, reporting and checking of deliverables. The preparation of outline and detailed designs to relevant current design standards and delivering detailed calculations, drawings and particularly reinforced concrete work. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to nurture and develop existing and new clients, together with the ability to oversee and manage the workload of team members and to work independently and alongside fellow team members. Minimum Requirements + The role requires a sound Structural Engineering background, understanding and experience, particularly in the design and construction of water retaining and other concrete structures. + Design knowledge and experience in other common construction materials is also essential. + Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of the team to prepare outline and detailed designs and deliver detailed calculations, reports, drawings and particularly RC work. + The candidate shall demonstrate good understanding of the use and capabilities of 3D Finite Element structural analysis modelling software and the ability to design to current codes. + Relevant experience as a structural designer in a design team environment is required. + Previous experience of undertaking structural inspections and preparing detailed engineering reports, site survey and supervision of projects. Ability and understanding of current engineering design software is required and some competence in the use of AutoCAD would be beneficial. + As senior level structural Engineer, you will be required to travel to site, other AECOM and client offices to develop and advance projects. Preferred Qualifications + A Bachelor's degree in both Structural and Civil engineering. + Chartered Structural (and preferably Civil) status. + Candidate must be able to demonstrate substantial relevant experience post chartership on a number of significant water structure projects.
