We are addressing projects across the energy spectrum, encompassing substations, overhead and underground systems, and smart networks as the UK expands investment and technology to support distributed energy and a shift to electric vehicles\. This role will be a key part of our electrical engineering team, bringing experience in developing designs and preparing design packages for Network Operators, developers, national infrastructure projects and cutting\-edge smart system projects\.The key tasks and responsibilities are as follows: Technical responsibilities * Working for the Engineering Manager, completing your own electrical designs and supporting other engineers in larger packages of work\. * Produce detailed electricity substation design packages, compliant to required client technical standards\(ENA/BS/IEEE standards and/orTNO/DNO/IDNO specific standards\), including: * Bill of materials * Compound layouts \(plans and elevation drawings\) * Control building arrangements * Interior and exterior raceways/containment * Auxiliary AC and DC power systems * Cable Schedules\. * Network planning up to 132kV for new electric utility connections\. * Earthing studies and substation earth system design\. * Analysis and design of power system protection schemes, including production of AC and DC schematics\. * Prepare calculations and technical/equipment specification documentation\. * Undertake consultancy role on FEED stage projects, including production of technical reports and presentations\. * CDM compliance and preparation associated design stage documentation, e\.g\. pre\-construction information documents\. * Technical sign\-off of designs produced by less experienced engineers within the team\. Functional responsibilities * Maintain a passion for making our clients successful and delivering superior customer service\. * Assist with the development of bid stage technical solutions\. * Present oneself in a professional manner to, both, clients and colleagues, to achieve project objectives\. * Manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines\. * Work independently and as part of a project team\. * Development of industry relationships to assist with future technical project delivery\. * Development of future business opportunities through nurturing of client relationships, active pursuit of new project leads, and elevation of the Burns & McDonnell brand\. * Personal professional development and partaking in professional bodies and industry groups * Technical mentoring of developing of engineers within the team Qualifications Minimum Qualifications & Experience * BEng in Electrical or Power System Engineering \(equivalent qualifications in a similar field may also be considered\) * 4 years' experience working within the electricity supply industry \(ESI\)\. * 4 years' experience in a detailed electrical design role, relating to electricity substations\. * Knowledge of DNO technical standard for electricity network design and operation\. * Up to date knowledge of ENA standards, ESI codes and regulations, and construction industry legislations\. In particular: o CDM 2015 roles and responsibilities o The Distribution Code o The Grid Code o ESQCR * Proficiency in detailed electrical design in the following areas: o Power system protection schemes - production of AC and DC schematics o Substation plant specification and interfacing design o Power system studies - load flow and short circuit analysis o Earthing system analysis and design, using CDEGS software * IT literate, with good knowledge of using Microsoft Office applications\. * AutoCAD experience would be beneficial\. * Membership of relevant industry body, e\.g\. CIGRE\. * IEng or CEng professional registration highly preferable\. Behavioural competences * Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to
