Chemical Development Chemical Development are responsible for the design and delivery of chemical manufacturing processes and controls that deliver active pharmaceutical ingredient for our medicines. We look to define the best route, optimise the process and continue to support improvements through the lifecycle of a medicine. We currently have a role available for a Postdoctoral Associate in Route Design of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). The responsibilities and requirements are outlined below. Job description The successful role holder will work in Chemical Development as part of the Route Design group responsible for driving perfection in this key area of API development by working within and across project teams. The holder will contribute to our capability in Route Design in reference to application and evolution of retrosynthesis packages and high throughput experimentation. There may also be time spent in drug project teams in the Route Design phase. Responsibilities of the role + Give to the design and practical demonstration of synthetic routes suitable for scale up manufacture + Drive Route Design excellence within and across project teams through e.g. application of groundbreaking literature methods, retrosynthetic software packages, high throughput experimentation Essential requirements + Minimum requirement of Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemistry and will hold or be completing a PhD/DPhil with a significant synthetic chemistry focus! + Experience of synthetic route development: idea generation and practical demonstration + Practical lab skills including analytical techniques to support synthesis design + Ability to use literature databases e.g. SciFinder, Reaxys Desirable experience and attributes Successful candidates should have some experience aligned to the attributes below: + Awareness of considerations for design of synthetic routes for scale-up manufacture of APIs + Good teamwork skills + Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills + Strong communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills + Good information management (recording of experimental and results)
