This unique opportunity will offer you the prospect to provide professional technical leadership and specialist operational support to manage risks associated with workplace exposure to hazardous substances, noise & vibration. Responsibilities: + Providing specialist support and carrying out surveys in areas such as noise, COSHH, RPE, LEV and engineering controls. You'll also provide associated advice in writing procedures, conducting surveys and audits etc. + You'll support in the development and leading of the strategy for balancing the risks through the assessment of the controls in place (physical & procedural). This will include the implementation of prioritised improvements via relevant occupational hygiene programmes in conjunction with the customer functions. + Providing specialist advice and support services (e.g. measurement/monitoring surveys) to the business and project teams, you'll ensure compliance with legislative requirements, AZ Standards and consistency with AZ risk management principles. + You'll act as the focal point of contact with Regulatory Authorities in matters pertaining to industrial hygiene. This will involve interpreting changes to legislation and supporting implementation of these in the business. + Taking ownership for the associated risk/compliance management processes, you'll ensure documented procedures are in place, effective and the principle of continuous improvement is applied. + By utilizing appropriate reporting, audit & inspection programmes, you'll monitor compliance, and SHE performance. + Owning & quality assuring the content of the associated training/education, and SHE information + You'll be responsible for identifying and developing the capability & competence necessary to effectively handle the risks either internally in AstraZeneca, or externally via contract resource. + As the Industrial Hygienist, we'll value your input into contingency planning and accident & incident investigations, audits, risk assessment etc + We'll look to you to demonstrate Lean behaviours, and by using relevant lean tools and techniques, ensure benefits are realised and a culture of Continuous Improvement is built. + As an active member of the SHE team, you'll deliver against local and group objectives and improvements within SHE. This will involve following the FM Integrated Management System processes and agreed operating model. Requirements: Ideally, you'll hold a degree or equivalent in a relevant science or engineering discipline. A certificate of operational competence in occupational hygiene would be advantageous as would a relevant Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH. You'll have experience working in occupational & environmental hygiene including practical experience of: + Evaluating exposure risk (physical & chemical) + Techniques to control exposure + Measuring/monitoring of exposure You should be able to demonstrate good knowledge of relevant legislation, and risk management principles and practices. Experience if working within pharmaceuticals, manufacturing or a highly regulated environment would be beneficial. AstraZeneca is an equal opportunity employer.
