Job Description

DevOps Lead - AWS, Docker, Kubernetes - SaaS Software Shoreditch based. Our client has been established for 6yrs and is an industry leader dedicated to revolutionising and modernising the high street through bettering customer interaction for their users. Their SaaS software is used by organisations in retail, healthcare, hospitality and the public sector. The software products serves millions of users a month with thousands of requests a second! The company is funding its own growth through increased client wins. They are in an exciting phase of growth and are scaling their software and systems to meet the demand. This is a hands on role primarily but you will also be leading a small team of 2 and look to hire an extra 2 people over the next few months. You MSUT have a solid grasp of DevOps / SRE principles. Our client are open to you coming from any technical background and skill level, as long as you have a thirst for knowledge, passion and can pick things up quickly. Ideally you will have some development experience and have previously held DevOps/Ops/SRE positions. Our client will also be more than open to taking on developers looking to get into platform engineering and like DevOps and SRE principles. Commercial Kubernetes experience is ESSENTIAL. If you are coming from a system administration background and do not follow infrastructure as code practices and lack software development experience this might not be the best role for you. Our client's tech stack: * AWS - 5 global regions * 15 AWS environments that are a mix of shared and dedicated customer environments * EC2 instances provisioned with Ansible that run in autoscaling groups mostly provisioned by Terraform in CD pipelines. * Kubernetes * Software environment is Java * Python scripting * Prometheus and Grafana to measure, monitor and visualise our systems and applications * Kibana & Elasticsearch to visualise and store structured logs As mentioned, some of the environments are serving thousands of request per second. Whilst this works, it is cumbersome to administer and maintain so they have decided to consolidate these environments into 5 multi tenanted Kubernetes clusters. One in each AWS region. They have started this journey and have plans but they want you to come in with your own ideas, opinions and experiences! What a great role right??
