Job purpose: This exciting new role will be responsible for keeping the Yard Management System up to date and accurate. You will be expected to carry out Yard Checks, identify trailers and check contents, ensuring this is reflected in the YMS. You will oversee our custom-built Yard, including 180 Dock doors and 450 plus parking bays. About the Role: Whilst on shift you will be responsible for managing the entry and exit gatehouse teams and ensuring that the Hub yard is ran to its optimum ensuring that high-priority freight is prioritised appropriately, and the client teams are updated. You must be an experienced people manager and be comfortable analysing data and creating reports on required aspects of the business whilst responding and resolving any queries from Client Managers. You will support the Hub, Systems & Yard Manager with all H&S, hygiene and quality audits including risk assessments and safe systems of work in your areas whilst promoting and driving consistency to ensure the delivery of excellent operational standards. This is a shift-based position and you will rotate across a 6:00am - 2:30pm and 2:00pm - 10:30pm shifts. Experience/Qualifications: * Extensive knowledge and experience of operational processes and practices, particularly hub operations * Proven ability to build business knowledge and translate into working practices and procedures * Must be able to work on own initiative in a pressurised environment * Be able to use internal systems and equipment * Motivational leader * Experience of leading a high performing team * Advanced Excel Responsibilities: * Ensuring the accuracy of the Yard Management System * Managing the Inbound and Outbound Gatehouse's to ensure the correct procedures are being followed including the recruitment of staff * Ensuring all Team Leaders are fully compliant with the Yard System functions by training and coaching the YMS to all areas of the business * The management of the Gate-House Co-ordinators and Shunters, ensuring that their targets are met and supporting with any queries they may have * Carrying out full yard checks and addressing anything that is not in line with required standards * Ensuring the Yard KPIs are met * Updating the business on the Yard Status and relevant action plans * Monitoring the performance of the yard and the analysis of reports to drive improvement plans * Ensuring Asset Outbound and Return Depart loads are sent daily by working with the Asset Manager, Returns Manager and Transport * Ensuring there are sufficient empty Double Decker's for the days planned departures * Monitoring the Yard to ensure a smooth operational process is followed at all times Benefits: * Bonus * 26 Days Holiday entitlement + Bank Holidays * Opt in benefits "To all recruitment agencies: Hermes does not accept agency resumes.
