Job Description

HGV Technician £33k + overtime Based near to Ashby M42 An opportunity has arisen to recruit for a new HGV / LGV Vehicle Technician for a well established company. You will be working on vehicle and trailer improvements, breakdowns, defect rectification, planned preventative maintenance and will ensure vehicles & trailers are in safe, legal and roadworthy condition. The working hours are 8-hours per shift on a rolling 6 week pattern working on days/afternoons/days/afternoons/days/nights, so your shift patter will be as follows Week 1 - 6am until 230pm Mon-Fri (5 x 8.5hr shifts) with 30 mins lunch week 2 - 1.30pm until 10pm Mon-Fri (5 x 8.5hr shifts) with 30 mins lunch week 3 - 6am until 230pm Mon-Fri (5 x 8.5hr shifts) with 30 mins lunch week 4 - 1.30pm until 10pm Mon-Fri (5 x 8.5hr shifts) with 30 mins lunch week 5 - 6am until 230pm Mon-Fri (5 x 8.5hr shifts) with 30 mins lunch week 6 - 7.30pm Sunday until 6am Friday (5 x 10.5hr shifts) with 30 mins lunch Sat am - 6am - 12pm - works on back of day shift, 6hrs at 1.5hrs. Sun am - 6am - 12pm - works on back of afternoon shift, 6 hrs at 2.0hrs (optional). week of nights every 6 weeks So as the HGV Technician what will you be doing ? * Preparation of vehicles for MOT first time pass rate along with compliance to PPM schedules * Assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of the VMU's parts stores. Booking in parts delivered, ensuring correct quantity and quality. * Understand Site Procedures, Risk Assessments and DSOP's specific to the role. * Keep the workshop clean and tidy, ensuring that all waste is segregated and all tools and equipment are kept in good working order. * Liaise with the Transport department and other departments daily. * Authorise the repair of vehicles and trailers around the country involved in a breakdown effectively. So what skills does the HGV Technician need to have ? * Experience as a skilled heavy goods vehicle engineer. * Have practical experience gained within an engineering environment. * Good PC and software literacy. * A Mechanical HGV repair and maintenance qualification * An HGV Class 1 or 2 driving licence would be desirable as would a fork-lift truck operators license If you would like to be considered for this role, please apply now as interviews will be taking place over the next 2 weeks Would suit a mechanic, fitter or technian
