As a Senior Engineering Manager within Smart Pension, you will work with multiple teams to make a difference. As we are continue to grow, the Engineering department at Smart Pension has grown. We are looking at setting up the department into different sections, focusing on different areas of the Smart platform, under experienced Engineering Leaders who can make sure that we continue to build a platform that is changing an industry, while keeping aligned with the technical and strategic vision of Smart. At Smart Pension, individuals and teams are given the freedom to set themselves up for success. Our team culture is focused on collaboration, and while we build in Ruby with Ember, any Senior Engineering Manager from a technical background is welcome to apply! Our Engineering department is growing, at over 150 people with more to come in 2020. What youll do * Manage and lead 1 to 4 Engineering Managers who will be managing 1-4 teams each, which will be 70-150 people * Attract, nurture, coach and retain awesome humans * Some of your teams will be local (London), other teams will be remote (either Poland, Croatia or Minsk) * Mentor and promote career growth by providing learning and development opportunities * Monitor reliability and performance of all systems and process to suggest improvements * Develop your team(s) through mentoring, feedback and performance management * Oversee the design, development, testing and release of software using engineering best practices * Serve as a technology leader with a strong focus on quality, performance, scalability & maintainability * Ensure compliance with security regulations * Deliver projects on time with quality - and help teams build those plans * Prepare and manage your departments budgets * Own the delivery and quality of what your teams produce * Works close with Product Owners to build roadmaps that the teams will deliver against * Oversee all software development plans from ideation to execution to maintenance * Design strategies for future development projects based on the companies over objectives and resources * Instill excellence into the processes, methodologies, standards and technology choices embraced by the team * Review and update policies relevant to internal systems and processes * Coordinate with external stakeholders * Drive design and planning activities by removing ambiguities, resolving dependency questions and providing high-level engineering estimates * Directly report to the Head of Engineering As a team Smart Pension is dynamic, exciting and diverse.
