QC Laboratory Technician

Job Description
Job Summary Avantor offers a wide range of laboratory support services designed to save our customers time and money. These services range from Specialised equipment cleans to Science Technician activities. However, they all share a central theme in supporting our customers and allowing them to recover valuable research time to increase the productivity of their labs. This role is multi-disciplinary and underpins the laboratory support operations. The Laboratory Support role directly and indirectly supports scientists across AstraZeneca allowing scientists to concentrate on their core role. This role is to be primarily lab-based focusing on the delivery of technical support to the QC laboratories at AZ Speke. You will be trained in the techniques specific to the department and be responsible for a range of laboratory duties including: performance checks of equipment, scheduled cleaning of equipment, chemical and clinical waste removal and general housekeeping. Your responsibilities Laboratory and Equipment Cleaning + Autoclave weekly checks, Autoclaving + Cleaning of laboratory equipment and laboratories + Collecting deliveries / Putting stock away + Pipette checks, Balance Checks, BAS Checks + QC laundry (lab coats sent for cleaning and ensuring enough clean lab coats available for QC staff) + Equipment preventative maintenance and performance checks + Inventory/ stock checks, Waste removal + Reagent and chemical management + Contribute to QC 5S initiative and continuous improvement program + Preparing equipment for calibration (cleaning and packaging) GMP and Compliance + To ensure that suitable written records and work undertaken are kept in accordance with GMP regulations + To ensure the compliance of all laboratory procedures and personnel with all Health & Safety Guidelines, with particular reference to COSHH and Biological Safety Regulations and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 + Reports non-conformance and SHE risks in accordance with Avantor and AZ company guidelines Other + Works with AZ to investigate deviations from SLAs and provides information required for any investigation + Assists the Avantor stores team by identifying any stock issues within the laboratory ensuring our broader service offering is maintained + Provides consumables restocking support to Avantor stores team in times of sickness or annual leave + Proactively identifies and implements efficiency and process improvements + Reports on KPIs, relevant metrics, SLAs and completion of weekly/monthly tasks + Participates in SHE or service audits and supports the implementation of actions + Looks for cost savings and cost avoidance and reports back to Lab Services Team Lead + Actively participates in weekly team meetings Your Skills, Experience and Knowledge + Minimum of GCSE Grade C or above in English, Maths and Science (or equivalent). + A level or Degree level education is an advantage. + Knowledge of SHE requirements in a laboratory environment. + Knowledge of GLS and GxP regulations and audit requirements. + Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively. + Good communication skills, problem solving capabilities and confidence to make clear recommendations. + Proficient use of a computer and Microsoft based software. + Experience of working in a GMP/laboratory environment is advantageous. + We are looking for self-motivated, energetic, dependable candidates with a clear attention to detail. + Flexibility regarding working hours when required in order to deliver the service required to our customers is also important.
