Job Description

The Role Management Apprenticeships: 2 Posts, Level 5 Hackney Council's award-winning apprenticeship programme has been designed to create quality opportunities for Hackney residents and school leavers. All of our apprenticeships last at least 13 months and combine paid work, training, and study towards a recognised qualification in a relevant subject. As an apprentice with us, you will earn at least the London Living Wage, and get a package of support including additional learning and development, and help to progress into a job or further apprenticeship. Over two thirds of our apprentices stay with Hackney Council. Hackney Council is seeking to recruit two Management Apprentices. These will be two-year fixed-term contracts, giving participants exposure to a range of frontline services and management. Our objective is to develop future service managers in local government. The specific purpose of the job is to undertake a variety of placements over two years across a range of council departments, including corporate, front-line resident-focused services and support services. Placements will typically last from 3-9 months and entail a significant level of responsibility or impact. We are looking for talented, motivated and driven individuals who see a career working in and for local government as inspirational. The scheme aims to develop individuals who will act as effective change agents and enablers in a council and is designed to help individuals realise their leadership potential in a vibrant and rapidly changing sector. The post holders will be members of the Policy and Strategic Delivery service. You will spend 20% of your time working towards your qualification or taking part in training and development activities. Eligibility: There is no upper age limit for our apprenticeships . For this apprenticeship, you must already have: - 3 or more A-Levels at grades A-C OR - an apprenticeship at Level 3 or above or another Level 3 qualification e.g. NVQ, BTEC extended diploma AND - at least 18 months work experience About Us For all apprenticeships in the UK you must meet both of the following conditions: - You must hold a British or European Economic Area (EEA) passport or have permission from the UK government to live in the UK - Have been ordinarily resident in the UK or an EEA country for at least the last three years To be eligible for a Hackney Council Apprenticeship, you must be able to prove that at least one of the following criteria apply to you: - You are a current resident of the London Borough of Hackney - You are a current student at a Hackney education institution (school, college, university, PRU/alternative provision, Adult Learning provision) - You are a former student at a Hackney secondary education institution and completed at least one GCSE or equivalent Level 2 qualification there - You are a current or former recipient of Hackney leaving care services.
