Job Description

You don't necessarily need experience as we provide full training. We have full-time and part-time roles in Portishead, very near Bristol, supporting people with learning disabilities and autism. From enabling individuals to go to the footie, horse riding and out socialising, to supporting with finances, managing their homes, and with personal care, each day is always different. In one service you'll support five gentlemen who lead very busy lives. Days are often active, fun and always brings something refreshingly different. In another we have roles supporting two busy young ladies. One communicates through her behaviour and the other individual is non-verbal; it's a particularly rewarding time as she discovers new ways to communicate using eye gaze technology. We also have roles supporting three young, sociable men to achieve their goal to live as independently as possible. You'll support in daily living; they have jobs, play football, do sports and socialise. You'll support with everyday tasks; cooking, cleaning the home and managing finances as well as with some personal care and medication needs. You'll work alongside encouraging teams and we're happy to discuss flexibility with shift patterns, which are set to avoid peak traffic times. If you're new to social care, we will support you gain the nationally recognised Care Certificate. If you have experience as a care assistant or care worker in a care home, you'll discover we provide plenty of on-going training, support to achieve relevant qualifications and career progression. All support workers work flexible shifts to provide a 24/7 service to the people we support. Full-time support workers work 37.5 hours plus one sleep-in a week (pay for these sleep-ins is included in the annual salary figures shown above). We also have some services where sleep-ins are not required. The salary for these roles is 17,051 - 17,774 pa. All support workers have the option of working additional hours or sleep-ins in a range of services and are paid 50-70 extra per sleep-in. View the detailed Job Profile.
