Join a well established team in Longwell Green, Bristol. The majority of your time will be supporting three men and you'll also work with our outreach team supporting four people who need occasional support in the community. You'll support three mature men who have learning disabilities and autism and communicate through their behaviour; you'll support them to increase their independence and access to their community. We understand that everyone has different needs so you'll therefore provide tailored day-to-day support. Each day is different depending on whom you're supporting; your day could include supporting the individuals with their interests (for example one runs his own small business), going to the cinema and to cafes, cooking, cleaning, managing finances and shopping. Only prompts with personal care are required. In the outreach team you'll support four people who live in their own homes, who need just a few hours of support each week, for example with their medication, shopping, banking, or with attending social activities. If you're new to social care, we will support you gain the nationally recognised Care Certificate. If you have experience as a care assistant or care worker in a care home, you'll discover we provide plenty of on-going training, support to achieve relevant qualifications and career progression. You'll need good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. Respectful of people's differences, you can build professional relationships and have a flexible approach. You can work 24/7 shifts including weekends and evenings / nights. A full driving licence is essential for some roles. We provide a range of benefits. All support workers work flexible shifts to provide a 24/7 service to the people we support. Full-time support workers work 37.5 hours plus one sleep-in a week (pay for these sleep-ins is included in the annual salary figures shown above). We also have some services where sleep-ins are not required and you may work some waking nights. The salary for these roles is 16,953 - 17,774 pa. All Support Workers have the option of working additional hours or sleep-ins in a range of services and are paid 50-70 extra per sleep-in. View the detailed Job Profile.
