Commscope is a leading Video, Broadband & Mobile technology company that transforms how service providers worldwide deliver entertainment and communications. Our solutions enable service and content providers to improve the way people connect - with each other and with their favourite content. We are looking to fill a role within our Software Engineering Systems and Infrastructure Support Team which is responsible for administering all parts of the software engineering infrastructure within the Commscope Belfast offices. This role will provide you with the opportunity to: Work with Linux operating systemsInstall new servers, configure hardware, services in accordance with standards and requirements. Administer Linux, Mac (OSX) and Windows operating systems. Support local and world-wide staff. Develop and maintain documentation - installation and configuration procedures, network diagrams. Perform daily monitoring, verifying availability of all hardware, resources and systems. Perform backup operations, ensuring all scheduled backups are successfully completed to the appropriate disks. Complete specification of new hardware purchases for servers, laptops and desktops. Carry out IP phone system configuration and support. Software imaging of new desktops, laptops. Qualifications, Skills & Experience Essential: Candidates should have a strong interest in Software Engineering Tools management, IT Systems and Network Administration and should have a wide knowledge of existing and emerging IT technologies. Applicants must have an honours degree in a Computer / IT based course, or hold equivalent IT qualifications or have equivalent experience and skills. Experience working with Linux Operating systems in a production environment. Strong LAN, WAN knowledge and ability to design, implement and administer networking environments using hardware and software. Competencies & Special Aptitudes The person appointed must be able to demonstrate the following attributes: Good communication skills Scripting skills The ability to work alone or as part of a team Excellent problem-solving skills The ability to explain problems and solutions clearly to non-technical users The role will require an element of on call support to provide cover for public and bank holidays in N. Ireland. In addition, you may be asked to support scheduled out of hours' activity, where possible this would be scheduled in advance but on occasion there may be the requirement for emergency support.
