Job Summary We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, dynamic Computational Chemist to provide scientific excellence within the CADD team, at our drug discovery facilities near Cambridge, UK. This position will see you providing computational expertise to impact upon integrated drug discovery programs and dedicated computational projects. This Client facing role will see you working with a diverse range of global organisations providing computational expertise to impact upon integrated drug discovery programs and dedicated CADD projects. You will be a positive role model within our organisation influencing scientific strategies across disciplines. Main responsibilities + CADD leadership within integrated projects using expertise and skills to influence project direction and strategy + Project leadership of CADD standalone projects, delivering on objectives, managing resources, finance and client communication + Act as CADD lead within business development activities preparing proposals and presenting to prospective clients + To provide broader scientific leadership, contributing and leading cross departmental projects and helping define future scientific direction + Mentorship of colleagues within and across departments + To identify and implement new technologies to enhance capabilities within CADD and medicinal chemistry + Promote high scientific visibility of Discovery capabilities internally and externally Key requirements + A first degree or equivalent in chemistry or a closely related subject + A PhD in a field of relevance to molecular modelling + CADD experience within a drug discovery environment ideally in industry + Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills + A dynamic and flexible approach towards achieving client-based objectives and demonstrable ability to deliver on multiple simultaneous projects with challenging deadlines + Expertise in structure, ligand based and data based approaches with a track record of impacting upon projects + In depth knowledge of commercial molecular modelling software, data visualisation and pipelining tools + Expertise in molecular simulation and/or predictive technologies would be an advantage About Discovery Discovery from Charles River is industry-proven in the successful development of novel therapies, with over 350 patents and 80 preclinical drug candidates delivered to our sponsors in the past 17 years.
