Job Description
An established and highly successful natural gas storage provider, Storengy UK are looking for a driven individual to appoint as an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Technician and join our committed Engineering Team. The Storengy site provides long term employment for 48 members of staff all with varying levels of qualifications and different expertise, everything from engineering and maintenance, to commercial and finance. The role requires participation with an on-call rota which will include a shift approximately 1 in every 3 weeks for which there is an additional payment. The Plant Storengy UK operates the Stublach Gas Storage Facility in Cheshire. The storage is currently made up of 20 gas caverns. The storage capacity is sold to various customers. In addition to its natural gas storage facility, Storengy UK are seeking to expand its core business in the UK, into geothermal energy, other energy storage (hydrogen, compressed air storage) and biogas. The Person Purpose of the Role: * To contribute to the safe operation of the Stublach gas handling assets to ensure the protection of personnel and the environment. * To carry out maintenance activities and oversee specialist maintenance contract staff in performing maintenance that contributes to the efficient operation of gas assets. * Prepare C&I/Electrical Isolations for plant and equipment maintenance preparation and associated isolation documentation. * Calibration, Inspection and Testing of a wide range of state-of-the art instrumentation; Pressure, level, flow, temperature. * A team member who is responsible for planned, reactive and preventative maintenance of all electrical, controls & instrumentation plant and equipment on site. * Supporting with fault finding and maintaining assets Key activities/accountabilities: SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT * Carry out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions and to comply with safety rules, procedures, regulations and codes of practice. * Report all events (personal injuries, equipment damage, environmental and security) to your Line Manager and regularly raise proactive observations to help reduce the risk of an unsafe situation occurring. * Operate as a member of the Emergency Response Team in the event of an incident on the Stublach site. * Comply with site rules and report any breach of safety (incomplete PPE, electrical hazard) to the relevant person/team on site. Challenge any safety breach. Liaise with members of other teams to share safety information * Preparation of documentation for the creation of safe systems of work on site, with the aim of becoming an authorised person within this process. * Provide focus on Process Safety across the site. * Develop RAMS for specific tasks GAS HANDLING ASSETS: * Secure the work area by identifying and measuring the risks in work activities and arrange the appropriate safeguards and isolations. * Once authorised, responsible for applying C&I, LV & HV isolations and issuing appropriate isolation documentation. * Carry out gas testing prior to authorisation of work activities. * Write, review and amend operational instructions / procedures / plans based upon experience, and implement them to isolate, maintain and reinstatement systems back to operational service. * Investigate operational issues / system defects/fault finding to determine the source of the failure and the most appropriate corrective action in order to safely return an item back to operational service. * Deliver tasks relating to the first level maintenance on the gas handling assets. * Liaise with the maintenance scheduling team to coordinate and monitor maintenance activities in the most cost and time effective manner. * Liaise with and oversee maintenance contractors on site to monitor their activities, ensuring safety, compliance and quality of work is maintained at all times. * Perform routine testing of operational equipment across the site, ensuring traceability by recording the test results in the Computer based Maintenance Management System (CMMS). * Coordinate the delivery and off-loading of chemicals/products/equipment used on site for operational and maintenance purposes. * Carry out inspection of instrumentation & electrical equipment, providing reports and recommendations. * Participate in the training of new employees by sharing knowledge of the site operations and equipment. Required Qualifications, Skills or Experience: * Overall awareness of work safety & general HSE knowledge. * Significant experience in operations/ maintenance of processing plants/ equipment, preferably within the Oil/Gas/Chemical/COMAH industries. * Control & Instrumentation or Electrical technical knowledge is mandatory. * Working as an Appointed Person previously is preferred. * Communic
