Due to the incredible growth and success of Avakin Life, we are looking for an Engineering Director to oversee our infrastructure group. This team is made up of a number of subgroups that have responsibility for our backend, social, virtual goods store, game play functionality as well as several other essential subgroups. The successful applicant will join a highly curated team comprised of some of the best and brightest talents in the industry, building one of the most innovative and ambitious products on mobile. This is a HIGHLY collaborative role, which requires you to directly liaise with the CTO in order to develop and execute on strategies. You will also be responsible for managing the day to day co-ordination and operation of our infrastructure team. In addition, you will provide organisational support to the studio's four existing technical directors. Responsibilities * Reporting back to CTO & Leadership Team on the status of projects and initiatives; * Overseeing the production and maintenance of actionable roadmaps; * Coordinating cross-company projects along with the CTO, Features Dev Director and Operations Director; * Working with key stakeholders to develop and execute on development strategies; * Ensuring that infrastructure is reliable and functional; * Managing and reporting on infrastructure and development costs; * Ensuring that team members have appropriate career development and training. Requirements Essential * Experience managing mid to large size teams; * Familiarity with cloud based development environments; * Historical experience in a development role (does not have to be current); * Experience or exposure to iterative development practises; * Exceptional oral and written communications skills; * Experience maintaining operational roadmaps. Desirable * Experience developing one of, online video games, online gaming, social networks or e-commerce at scale; * Previous involvement in own business or startup; * Experience with change management.
