Role and Responsibilities MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: * To provide engineering support, primarily at the pre-contract award stage, through the definition of creative and cost-effective technical solutions to meet customer requirements and to take the technical lead when required. * Responsible for the coordination of system development tasks to include design, integration and formal testing and over-seas all transitions during the project duration. Working with the project team, develop and complete actions in system specifications, technical and logistical requirements and other disciplines that ensures the smooth running of a program. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead the engineering team in the definition and design of creative and cost-effective solutions that meets customer training requirements * To develop the business case that supports the Company's perception of the win price for a particular prospect in conjunction with Business Development. * To design conceptual systems solutions that meets customer requirements and complies with the business case. * Co-ordinate and contribute to the engineering inputs to bids, ensuring that the solution concepts are effectively conveyed to the bid team. * Support the development of close working relationships between CAE UK and other CAE entities to promote reuse of core products and technologies. * Provide demonstrations and make presentations, both internally and to customers and team partners. * Act as the focal point for liaison between Business Development and the Engineering departments in the development of customer solutions. * To provide engineering consultancy to the Project Manager after contract award in order to achieve margin maximisation. * Lead the project engineering team after contract award up to the point of design freeze. Provide technical support throughout the integration and acceptance process. * Maintain currency with technological advances and their application to CAE solutions. * Maintain currency with competitor products and their market presence to ensure that CAE maintains a competitive advantage. * Act as solution design authority and provide consultancy support to both the bid and project teams. * Any other duties as may be required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: * Bachelor or Masters Degree in Systems Engineering or another engineering discipline e.g. Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering. * Substantial systems engineering experience in the Simulation domain. * Experience of providing system engineering inputs into Bids & Proposals documents. * In-depth knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines and broad engineering experience. * Sound commercial awareness, particularly of the simulation and training market place. * Ability to work under pressure and time constraints. * Solid appreciation of simulation. * Experience as a team lead, or ability to lead a team. * Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. * Excellent planning, organisational and coordination skills. * Good understanding of project finance. * Good PC skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, etc). SPECIAL FEATURES: * Customer facing role. * Applicants must be able to live and work in the EU/EEC/UK. * Some activities will require substantial travel in the UK and abroad. * The role will require overtime and occasional weekend working. * Must be able to obtain or transfer Security Clearance which the Company sponsors (applicants must have lived continuously in the UK for the past 5 years in order to obtain security clearance) or currently holds NATO SC level Security Clearance that can be transferred from overseas to the UK.
