Overview

Purpose of the role Working as part of Acora's Tech Centre and reporting to the Lead Technical Systems Engineer, this is a role predominantly providing implementations in core skill areas, technical expertise and engineering support to a portfolio of contracted services or project customers. Regular travel to Solihull (B90) and occasional working during unsocial hours including weekends is inevitable. You will be demonstrably competent in a wide variety of key technologies in order to properly provide the levels of support our customers require. You will be familiar and have some experience of the following: Microsoft stack (Windows Server, SQL, Active Directory, Exchange etc.) Cloud offerings (Azure, O365) Storage (Dell EqualLogic, NetApp) Back-up (Symantec Backup Exec, Cloud Solutions) VDI (Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop or Microsoft RDS) Virtualisation (VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V) Network Switching (Cisco, HP, Dell) Firewalls and Security (Palo Alto, Cisco, Juniper) Job Requirements The starting point is a willingness to travel to Solihull (B90) on a weekly basis (fuel costs covered). To deploy all technologies in accordance with the company's design team documentation, agreed best practice standards (including external accreditations) and our project management framework. This is particularly critical in the disciplines of Change Management and Service Introduction. Certain deployments are expected to require evening or weekend work. To deliver contracted services to customers either remotely or on site. This takes a variety of forms including routine site visits for preventative maintenance, consultancy or training, and fulfilling service requests. Contribute to Acora’s Microsoft Teams technology channels. This will include attendance at meetings and delivering on actions assigned to investigate, evaluate new products and write/present reports. Work in partnership with customers to advise and deliver services-led technology solutions that best meet their business objectives and/or overcome problems. Proactively recommend improvements to customer systems and Acora processes that would benefit both the customer and Acora. Create high quality deployment, monitoring and QA standards/installation guides, work instructions, key customer documentation and maintain CMDB/asset information. Essential Technical skills: Experienced in installing and supporting complex and hybrid environments Experienced in following solution designs, deployment to specification or standard and documenting the solutions installed including any deviations from the standard or design. Ability to verify solutions and ensure that appropriate products and services have been selected to satisfy client requirements. Demonstrable capability with in-depth troubleshooting experience. General understanding of other desired technologies: Shared Storage platforms Application Delivery solutions Remote Access Solutions Hyper Convergence Solutions Mobile Management Solutions Archiving and Data Governance Solutions Cloud Solutions Certifications in any of the following areas desirable: Windows Server 2012/2016 Microsoft O365 or Azure Exchange 2013/2016 SQL 2014/2016 Dell PowerEdge, N-Series, PowerVault, VRTX and/or EqualLogic Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop 7.x and profile management Citrix Netscaler 10.x/11.x NetApp FAS and E series VMware vSphere 6 Cisco Routing & Switching Palo Alto Firewalls Additional certification, training or experience in other technologies are welcome, especially: Microsoft Systems Centre and other non-core stack technologies Backup technology such as CommVault, Symantec Back-up Exec and Veeam Anti-virus products such as McAfee and Sophos Keywords: systems analyst; systems technician; infrastructure technician; infrastructure analyst; infrastructure engineer Information Security This position is within the defined scope of Plan-Net's Information Security Management System (ISMS).
