Location: Surrey-based offices Please note that the Kingston office will be relocating to Woking by the end of 2020, and that Council staff will be working in an increasingly agile way. About the role Surrey County Council is seeking to appoint a Senior Public Health Lead in Health Improvement (Sexual Health) with strong technical skills and a real commitment to improving population health. The post will focus on commissioning sexual health services and leading on sexual health promotion and outreach work. You will be the service lead on sexual health services commissioned by Surrey County Council. You will work closely with the specialist provider and primary care colleagues to ensure high quality sexual health services are available to Surrey residents. You will work under the supervision of the Consultant in Public Health who leads on sexual health. You will also work closely with finance colleagues to ensure services are provided within agreed resources. You will also contribute to outreach and preventive work and this will likely involve supervision of a Public Health Lead. You will be responsible for implementation and delivery of national, regional and local public health policies. You will provide excellent public health advice and leadership to the integrated public health team. You will lead and contribute to multi-agency and partnership networks and alliances to optimize use of resources to address health issues and health inequalities The Public Health team in Surrey is forward-looking with a strong focus on developing and delivering improvements to the health and wellbeing of our county's population and reducing health inequalities. Public Health currently sits within the Children, Families, Lifelong Learning and Culture directorate of Surrey County Council, leading Health and Wellbeing initiatives for the Council. This role will also support the implementation of relevant parts of the Surrey Health and Wellbeing Strategy across organisations and communities, and will input into the Annual Public Health Report and the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about public health and keen to develop their skills. We are supportive of people who wish to pursue the Public Health Practitioners programme. The vacancy is for a full-time post but applicants wishing to work part-time or job-share (paid pro-rata) will also be considered.
