To join them on their journey to utterly disrupt their sector and ensure the customer is at the heart of everything that they do. This isn’t a role for a rookie. You’ll be given full autonomy to shape the data offering – you’ll need to define your own requirements, working closely with the engineers and the data science team to get to where you need to be. To truly excel in this role you’ll be a seasoned data engineer who is passionate about best practice and quality above all. You’ll be fully hands-on, well-versed in designing & running robust cloud-based platforms utilising tech such as AWS / Google / Kafka / Spark and using Python or Java on a daily basis. CI/CD, pair programming and TDD will be inbuilt into your psyche alongside a “test first” mentality and I’d also expect you to have a breadth of knowledge about non-traditional databases such as NoSQL, MongoDB, MariaDB, Redis, PostgreSQL and so on. Yes - there will be some boring SQL work to start with. And yes – it will be hard work, but as you progress on this journey you’ll be focussing more and more on how you can use data to solve customer problems and really add value.
