Overview

Job Description You will be joining a Liverpool based tax team whose function is to manage the UK and Group tax position, carry out UK tax compliance across all taxes, perform year end and quarterly tax reporting (including Solvency II reporting) and provide tax advice to the UK and Group businesses on transactions and other business initiatives. You will report to the Head of UK Corporation Tax Compliance and Reporting based in Liverpool, you will delegate work to the junior team members, be responsible for managing their workloads and be part of a 16 strong Group and UK Tax team based in Liverpool and London. The Senior Tax Analyst role involves: Working on the quarterly UK and group IFRS tax reporting processes Preparation of the UK corporation tax and other UK tax return submissions Working closely with UK Finance Centre of Excellence in Liverpool and the Group Tax team based in London Supporting the UK tax advisory function Role Requirements UK and Group Financial Reporting You will be required to play a pivotal role in the quarterly UK and Group tax reporting processes to deliver tax reporting ,working with the Head of UK Tax Compliance and Reporting, managing the junior staff in the team and liaising with the Group Tax team in London. You will also manage the tax provision process for the production of the annual UK statutory accounts. Tax Forecasting You will take responsibility for the UK tax forecasting process. UK corporation tax compliance You will manage the preparation and submission of the 34 UK corporation tax compliance returns, using excel workbooks and externally provided tax software. You will also be directly responsible for the tax return of RSAI plc, the main UK trading company and a number of subsidiary returns, with assistance from other members of the team. You will use your considerable tax return preparation experience and tax technical knowledge to deliver accurate and technically correct tax returns to the statutory deadlines. Further you will manage preparation of overseas tax returns as required. UK tax advisory and overseas taxes Working with the UK Tax Business Partner, you will be involved in projects providing tax advice to the UK and overseas businesses as appropriate. This could involve loss planning, overseas branch issues, restructuring and other UK business initiatives. You will also be involved in supporting the Group Tax function in dealing with transfer pricing, forex and other overseas issues, particularly to the extent they impact UK entities. Responsibilities The jobholder is typically responsible for: The preparation of corporation tax returns, annual and quarterly tax reporting and statutory accounts tax provisions Providing support and advice to the UK Tax Business Partner in London on ad hoc UK transactions and business initiatives Timely and accurate tax forecasting on a quarterly and annual basis Training and knowledge sharing across the tax team and with other members of finance Ad hoc transfer pricing, forex and overseas activities relating to the UK group Preparing reports to meet the needs of internal customers and stakeholders, within agreed timescales Ensuring information and interpretation is presented clearly, unambiguously and in a readily comprehensible and appropriate format for the audience and business purpose Supporting the continuing personal and professional development of the tax team through coaching, training and appropriate development activities Participating in internal (and external) networks of Tax/Finance professionals so as to encourage collaboration, the sharing of knowledge and best practice and facilitate the adoption of common practice world-wide Size & Scope: This role reports to the Head of UK Corporation Tax Compliance and Reporting This role is Liverpool-based, but will require occasional travel to London and other offices as required. The role involves working closely with the wider UK and Group Tax teams and tax colleagues globally as well as partnering effectively with other business disciplines, especially UK Finance Direct reports: none The Individual Previous experience and knowledge should ideally include: Qualified accountant, tax qualified or similar HMRC qualification Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in corporation tax compliance and reporting with HMRC, the profession or industry Excellent accounting skills, including knowledge of tax relevant IFRS Standards Comprehensive knowledge of tax law and regulation relating to UK companies Knowledge of Solvency II is beneficial but not required Knowledge and experience of transfer pricing rules and regulations, BEPS issues and general awareness of overseas tax issues Excellent skills in: Building effective relationships Understanding and analysing information and process (including data flows) Communications (oral & written) About us Based on Old Hall Street in the heart of Liverpool's thriving commercial district you will find the RSA Liverpool office.
